Mastopexy or lifting of the breast means cosmetic surgery of the breast.
In breast ptosis the breast lies in a too low position and is flattened in its upper part. Ptosis have many degrees (1,2or 3) depending on the position of the nipple and the excess of skin.
It can be isolated (pure ptosis) or associated to gland hypertrophy or hypotrophy.
The operation consists of:

• Stretching the skin envelope by removing the skin excess.
  

• Concentrating the glandular tissue
  

• Placing the nipple and areola back in a youthful position.
  

Scars depend on the severity of ptosis:

• One scar around the areola when ptosis is very mild
  

• Peri-areolar and vertical scars when ptosis is mild
  

• anchor shape ( peri-areolar scar ,vertical scar, horizontal scar )when the ptosis is very severe
  

Breast reduction or augmentation can be done, to restore a satisfying breast volume.
The aim of this operation is to elevate the nipple and areola to a more youthful position, concentrate the gland and remove excess skin, in order to obtain lifted shaped breast.
